The Hunter’s most prestigious safety awards are now open for submissions from local organisations who go above and beyond in WHS.

Launched in 2015 by local safety consultant, Sarah-Jane Dunford, the Hunter Safety Awards recognise local businesses and individuals that have integrated work, health and safety as part of their core business.

Now in its fourth year, the Hunter Safety Awards are calling for nominations from companies and individuals within the Hunter region who are demonstrating best-practice and innovative approaches when it comes to workplace health and safety.

There are twelve main award categories for next year’s awards night, eleven of which are open for submissions. This includes a new category this year – Best Health and Wellbeing Program. Organisations and individuals may apply for more than one category, providing they meet the requirements of each category.

Sarah-Jane said she is thrilled to bring back the awards and welcome AGL as the major sponsor for a second year.

“It’s great to have such a well-known and leading organisation supporting this event,” Ms Dunford said. “Our sponsors are vital to the success of the awards, so we are delighted to have AGL as our major sponsor once again.”

“We’re also thankful that the University of Newcastle, WesTrac, 3M, Programmed Skilled Workforce, uvex, Red Insight and Sonic HealthPlus are continuing to support this event for another year, and that MRS Services Group, Jason Reading Landscapes and ACI Global have joined us as well.”

AGL Macquarie General Manager Kate Coates, said AGL is proud to support the awards and help celebrate the important work organisations and individuals in the Hunter region are doing in the health and safety space.

“Last year we were impressed with the breadth of safety initiatives that local organisations are implementing,” Kate said. “It’s great to see so many Hunter people promoting health and safety in the workplace and be recognised for their efforts,” Ms Coates said.

“Excellence in health and safety should be showcased and the Hunter Safety Awards is a great way to do this. Our congratulations to Sarah-Jane and her team for continuing to organise such an important event.”

Hunter-based organisations and individuals are urged to enter the awards and receive recognition for the innovative and important role that WHS plays in their business.
