Advisory Panel
We're building an independent Advisory Panel for the Hunter Safety Awards — a group of local WHS professionals who'll help make sure that when someone wins, it means something.
If you live and breathe workplace health and safety in the Hunter Region, this is your invitation to help build something credible, from the ground up.
For over a decade, the Hunter Safety Awards has celebrated WHS excellence across the region. But recognition only means something when people trust how it's decided — and we've heard, clearly, that trust needs rebuilding.
So for 2027, we're introducing an independent Advisory Panel: local WHS professionals with no sponsorship ties, no conflicts of interest, and no agenda beyond making sure the right people get recognised for the right reasons.
This isn't a token committee. The Advisory Panel will have real input into judging criteria, nomination vetting and category integrity — the substance behind every award we hand out.

We want a panel that reflects the full breadth of WHS work happening across the Hunter Region — not just seniority or job title. You might be a fit if you:
-
Work in or around workplace health and safety in the Hunter Region — as a professional, consultant, frontline leader or educator
-
Have genuine passion for lifting the standard of WHS recognition, not just industry credentials
-
Can bring an independent, unbiased perspective — free from sponsorship or commercial ties to the Awards
-
Are comfortable reviewing sensitive nomination material and contributing honest, considered judgement
-
Can commit time across the awards cycle (details in the Info Pack)
We're especially keen to hear from people who represent SMEs, frontline and operational safety roles, and those historically underrepresented on panels like this. Lived experience matters as much as seniority.
